Occupational Wellbeing is expressed by the degree of personal satisfaction and enrichment in our life through our occupation. Enhancing our occupational wellbeing may include finding a job that integrates and balances our skills and interests, or discovering a more satisfying way to incorporate our skills and interests into our current career. It also may encompass maintaining a suitable balance between work and other dimensions of our life. Finding a healthy way to integrate work into our life can enhance personal satisfaction and overall wellbeing.

There are several areas that may impact our degree of occupational wellbeing.  Some examples include stress, a negative work environment, working too many hours, job dissatisfaction, and/or poor or undesirable work conditions.  All of these factors can impact how fulfilled we feel by our current job or career.  Furthermore, occupational wellbeing can drastically alter one's attitude and perception of the other dimensions of wellbeing. Continual evaluation of personal interests, attitudes and goals is essential in the maintenance of occupational wellbeing.

Apple of the Day

Fall asleep faster by skipping stimulants like caffeine and nicotine from late afternoon on.  Also, don't use alcohol to induce sleep, because as its effects wear off, your brain grows more alert.  Don't rely on sleeping pills, as they can disrupt your sleep/wake cycle if you depend on them too much.
